Ella Hooper's Overnight Success is a romping, heartfelt trip into the singers love of country and Americana. Recorded in Nashville with an all-star crew (think Sierra Ferrell's co-writers, Sheryl Crowe's band and collabs with indie-cana stalwarts like Steve Poltz and Rachel Baiman) the album plays like a best of, exploring the themes of a 20+ year career in showbizz, falling in and out of love with the game - as well as covering the challenging emotional terrain of the last few years where Hooper has had to metamorphosize through loss and heartbreak. Sonically diverse with lashing of Cajun squeezebox, pedal steel and joyous backing vocals one minute and spacious keys and crystalline acoustics (care of multi award winner, Brian Sutton) the next, but it's the writing that shines on this collection, as it's some of her best yet.
